Moving From Canada to Denver, Eh?! Canada Colorado Association

We are exceedingly proud of our continuing efforts to bring Canadians together in the Rocky Mountain region. The Denver metro area has welcomed thousands of Canadians!

With similar lifestyle choices and outdoor activities mimicking those of our native homeland, the Mile High City makes for an easy transition to living in the States. Skiing, cycling, hiking, camping and a love for craft beer, are all readily available!

Hockey games, job opportunities, tight-knit communities, and high-quality housing are all accessible and affordable (compared to Toronto and Vancouver, anyway!?). Transplants to Denver never look back!

The Canada Colorado Association (CCA) brings together Canadians and Friends of Canada in fun, social and business networking gatherings, helping new Canadian Coloradoans transition to life in the Denver metro area. We can direct you to resources to support your immigration, cross-border taxation, and cross-border wealth management needs, as well as help create social bonds with fellow Canadians in Colorado.

The CCA’s vision statement is “Celebrating Canada! Connecting Canadians and Friends of Canada”. The CCA exists to connect fellow Canadians who are living and working in Colorado. However, you don’t need to be Canadian to hang out with us! There are many spouses and friends who are not of Canadian heritage welcome to hang out with us.

We love incorporating memorable aspects of Canadian lifestyle into social gatherings while building a Canadian community in Colorado. Here are some of the events we host:

  • Beef and Lobsterfest (lobsters flown in from Nova Scotia!)
  • “Almost on Canada Day Charity Golf Tournament”
  • Happy Birthday Canada!
  • Canadian Thanksgiving
  • Grey Cup Party
  • Hockey games when Canadian teams take on the Colorado Avalanche.
  • Canadian Comedy, Magicians and Musical Performances
  • Business Networking and informational meetings about subjects such as cross-border taxation, wealth management and immigration; USMCA (affectionately known to Canadians as “CUSMA”) plus, gatherings of alumni from Canadian Universities.

Director of Operations

The Director of Operations for our property management company is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day operations and driving the strategic direction of the organization’s property portfolio. This leadership role involves managing maintenance and housekeeping teams, optimizing systems and procedures, ensuring regulatory compliance, and enhancing overall efficiency and profitability.

Sharon coordinates and assists with onboarding of all new properties by meeting with the property owners, completing the initial inventory of the houses, staging services, and furniture purchases, as needed. As a key member of the team, she often serves as the main liaison with property owners, investors, and other stakeholders.

Lecia Gill

Lecia Gill is a transplant to Colorado from her southern homes in Louisiana and Texas.  Lecia, her daughter Lilly, and their dog Snowflake enjoy exploring the mountains, hiking trails and city parks in the Denver metro area. 

True to her southern roots there are no strangers to Lecia only friends.  This is her driving force to work with people in the real estate industry to help make their dreams come true. 

Lecia is an efficient problem solver, mediator, and skilled communicator.  For the past 20+ years she has put these skills to work in the Multi-Family Industry, Corporate Housing, and as an Associate Broker.  Lecia is ready to assist you in your real estate transaction and to make the process easy, efficient, and fun!

Moving to Boston from Toronto in 1991, I soon discovered the many challenges of being a transplant to a different country. Although Canada and the U.S. are friendly neighbors with similar cultures, the challenges of immigration law, cross-border taxation, and wealth management are significant! I can help navigate those challenges during a client’s relocation.

Five years later, when a career advancement opportunity offered a move to Colorado I learned, yet again, the complicated logistics of having to move an entire family of five, thousands of miles across the country. Through these two personal relocations, I have gained a unique appreciation for the needs of families who are relocating. Serving and guiding my clients who are experiencing similar life changes to my own is very rewarding!
After 28 years as a resident of the Denver metro area, we have moved to the Dallas area to expand our business offering bi-directional residential relocation and Real Estate services between the Dallas and Denver metro areas. Whether your move is from Canada, across the U.S., or anywhere else in the world, my network through the Worldwide Employee Relocation Council will add value to clients seeking a great place to settle and create a new home.

In addition to residential Real Estate, I enjoy spending time with my wife and 3 kiddos, our church, as well as golfing, camping, fishing, cycling, and skiing.
